The ICAO English Proficiency Test is an international requirement for pilots and air traffic controllers to demonstrate their ability to communicate clearly in English during flight operations. It assesses speaking and listening skills across six levels (Level 6 being the highest).
Yes! Both the semi-direct section and the live interview are conducted online using Zoom and our secure language assessment platform. No in-person visit is needed.
The exam is open to student pilots, licensed commercial/private pilots, and aviation professionals who need ICAO language certification for licensing, renewals, or career advancement.
The full test takes about 35 to 40 minutes, including both sections:
Semi-direct part: 20–25 minutes
One-on-one interview: 10–15 minutes
Your ICAO level (between Level 1 and Level 6) will be determined based on six criteria: pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and interactions. You’ll receive a breakdown in your results. Your level will be assigned based on the ICAO Language Proficiency Rating Scale.
Yes — the certificate issued is compliant with ICAO standards and valid for both initial licensing and renewals, depending on your aviation authority's policies.
Currently, our test is accepted by all EASA Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland). Outside the EASA area, the test should be recognized as it complies with ICAO standards, however we strongly recommend that you contact us or check directly with your local CAA before booking, to ensure acceptance.
The test is conducted by a certified ICAO Language Proficiency Examiner operating in collaboration with a licensed Language Assessment Body based in Austria (LevelUp Testing GmbH – LTB 106), under the supervision of Austro Control. This ensures the test meets ICAO standard and is officially recognized within EASA member states and beyond.
Yes, you can reschedule your test without any problem. If you need to change your test date, just contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you.
You will receive your official results and certificate via email within 3 business days after completing the test.
The simulation mimics the real ICAO test and includes a feedback session with one of our certified examiners. You’ll receive specific tips to help you improve before taking the official exam.

After booking you will be contacted by email to confirm the date/time slot and to proceed with the payment, that will be by bank transfer.

- A mobile device with the free version of Zoom installed
- A quiet space where you can speak freely for up to 40 minutes
Yes, you can retake the test immediately if you don’t pass. However, we encourage you to reach out if you’d like any support before your next attempt.
Yes, you can retake the test at any time.
It depends on the level you achieve. A Level 6 is valid for life, a Level 5 is valid for 6 years and a Level 4 for 4 years. Below Level 4, it is considered a fail, as the minimum requirement for International Operations is Level 4.
We will send you both your test certificate and the official LAB certificate by email within 3 working days after your exam. It is your responsibility to forward these documents to your local CAA for the issuance of the English language proficiency endorsement on your license.
After you select your preferred date and time for the exam, you will be contacted by email to confirm your appointment. In the same email, you will receive the bank details needed to complete the payment via bank transfer.
